Coffee anyone? Join The Coffee Party Movement

Common Cause - Holding Power Accountable

Dear Carlos,

Let's put Fair Elections on the table on National Coffee Party Day!

Find an event and start the discussion!

Frustration with our leaders in Washington is reaching a fever pitch. There's too much partisan grandstanding, too much obstructionism and not enough focus on enacting change that will benefit ordinary people like you and me.

That's where a new grassroots effort called the Coffee Party Movement comes in. They are urging voters to "Wake Up and Stand Up" – starting this Saturday, March 13, with a National Coffee Party Day.

Can you plan to attend and help spread the word about Fair Elections? Click here to find a Coffee Party event near you!

The Coffee Party Movement has already embraced the idea behind Fair Elections. They "demand a government that responds to the needs of the majority of its citizens as expressed by our votes and by our voices; NOT corporate interests as expressed by misleading advertisements and campaign contributions."

Fair Elections would allow candidates to put a stop to the endless chase for campaign cash and make elections about voters – not big campaign donors. By allowing candidates to run using small dollar contributions and limited public funds, it's the best chance we have to break the grip that special interests currently have on public policy.

We've created a postcard that you can print and share with your fellow Coffee Party activists about how corporate interests have blocked progress on much-needed reforms.

Please plan to take part in National Coffee Party Day this Saturday, and to make Fair Elections part of the discussion. Click here to find a Coffee Party event near you!

Thanks for all you do,

Bob Edgar

P.S. Many coffee shops where the meetings are taking place have wireless access. If you can bring a laptop to the Coffee Party, please urge folks to sign the Fair Elections petition during the meeting at http://www.commoncause.org/CPM.  Need more information? Click here.
